The Iowa Lakes hosted the Ellsworth Panthers on Friday to start the four game series. In game one, Ellsworth jumped out to an early 5-0 lead taking advantage of Laker mistakes and walks. Iowa Lakes showed some life when Spencer Keane (Palm Springs, California) and Chipper Holland (Tampa, Florida) went back to back singles. Jayden Adrians (Green Bay, Wisconsin) would launch a ball off the scoreboard to make it 5-3 panthers but Ellsworth would respond with eight runs in the 6th to make it 13-3. The Lakers would not manufacture any more runs and would drop game one 13-3.
Starting for Iowa Lakes was Frankie Cresta (Johnston, Iowa) who would go 3.1 innings pitched with four earned runs and four strikeouts. Chris Isensee (Shakopee, Minnesota) came in for relief and pitched 2.1 innings with one earned run and four strikeouts.
In game two, the Lakers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Jimmy Mapakou (Vauréal, Île-de, France) led the game off with a HBP and would eventually steal second base. Adrians would single through the 5-6 hole to bring home Mapakou to give the Lakers an early 1-0 lead. Ellsworth would score two runs of their own and take a 2-1 lead. The Iowa Lakes offense would erupt for seven runs when Holland would reach on an error and Adrians would double to left center to put runners in scoring position. Alex Pavon (Bellevue, Nebraska) would help the Lakers retake the lead would a single to left field to bring home two runners to make it 3-2 Iowa Lakes. Pavon would reach second on a sac bunt and would score on a Devin Brackin (Tampa, Florida). Iowa Lakes would extend their lead when Austen Daliet (New Orleans, Louisiana) would hit his first home run on the year and give Iowa Lakes the 6-2 Lead. The Lakers would tack on two more runs in the inning to give them a six run lead and that is all they would need and win game two 8-2.
Evan Sankey (Appleton, Wisconsin) was dominant on the mound going eight innings with two earned runs and four strikeouts. Lucas Gardner (Estherville, Iowa) would shut the door striking out one batter.
