Ellsworth Sweeps Monday to Win Series

The Ellsworth Panthers took both games today by scores of 15-5 and 5-4. In game one, Ellsworth started the scoring with a solo homerun but Iowa Lakes would respond with four runs of their own to regain the lead. The scoring started when Alex Pavon (Bellevue, Nebraska) singled up the middle and reached second base on a HBP by Andrew Eskens (Lincoln, Nebraska) and Devin Brackin would reach on a soft line drive to right field to load the bases. Austen Daliet (New Orleans, Louisiana) would bring in the first run of the game for the Lakers when he would single into left center to bring home Pavon. Marcus Pronay (Innisfil, Ontario) would hit a ball to short to score Eskens from third and Spencer Keane (Palm Springs, California) would hit a sac fly to left field to score Brackin and make it 4-1 Lakers. Iowa Lakes would only scratch across one more run but would drop game one 15-5.

Pavon would draw a walk in the third to start the inning and Dean Bedell (Treynor, Iowa) would reach first on a walk of his own. A daliet single would bring home Pavon from second base to tie the game up at two a piece. Daliet and Bedell would each move up a base on a missed cut from the outfield to get into scoring position. Keane would battle with two strikes and single up the middle to bring home two runs and make it 4-2 Lakers. Ellsworth would score two runs on a two-run homerun in the 7th inning to tie the game up. Game four would go extras and in the 10th the Panters would scratch a run across on an error by Iowa lakes. The Lakers showed some life in the 10th but could not get anything across and would drop game four 5-4.
