Iowa Lakes Community College was recently honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for academic achievements during the 2021-22 school year.
Each year the NJCAA recognizes both teams and individuals for academic success. Five Iowa Lakes teams received honorable mention for earning a team cumulative grade point average above 3.0.
Softball- 3.58
Women's Golf- 3.29
Men's Golf- 3.24
Men's Soccer- 3.1
Women's Soccer- 3.02
"Very excited to see the amount of teams and student athletes recognized on the Academic All-American teams. Obviously our coaches are doing a great job of recruiting student athletes and coaching them up on the academic side of the house. Coach King and the softball program having a team GPA of 3.58 is outstanding as they also had a great year on the field. Men's and Women's golf and Men's and Women's Soccer all had outstanding academic showings as well earning NJCAA academic teams of the year. Individually we had numerous athletes represented from every program which is very impressive and something our athletic department is very proud of," commented Athletic Director Troy Larson.
The NJCAA recognized 49 Iowa Lakes student athletes for their individual academic achievement.
The NJCAA has three award classifications: NJCAA All-Academic First Team (4.00 GPA), NJCAA All-Academic Second Team (3.80-3.99 GPA), and NJCAA All-Academic Third Team (3.60-3.79 GPA).
