Anthony Anderson '90-'92

Anthony Anderson attended Iowa Lakes Community College from 1990-1992, he is going into the Hall of Fame for Basketball.

Anthony came to Iowa Lakes at the suggestion of his godfather because of the success of former Lakers including Von McDade. Anthony played for head coach Bob Grems who had a lasting impact on him. He also appreciated the rest of the coaching staff at Iowa Lakes. Other members of Iowa Lakes and the community that greatly impacted Anthony include John and Carolyn Walz, Daryl and Sue Madison, Chuck and Sue Tostenson, Jim and Julie Willey, Mrs. Linda Heldt, and the recreation department staff.

Anthony had a successful career at Iowa Lakes. His sophomore year he led the Lakers to a 2nd place finish at the National Tournament and an overall record of 32-6 . He led the team in scoring with 18 points per game and finished with 1,001 career points. He was named 1st Team All-Region both his freshman and sophomore years. He is 1st in all-time steals at 120.

Coach Bob Grems had this to say about Anthony, “Anthony came to Iowa Lakes with a burning desire to elevate his game to the next level. Ant always worked tremendously hard, during both the season and off season, to achieve his goal. Because of his great attitude and his dedication, he was a leader both on and off the court. Ant was a pleasure to coach and his personality always made him one of the fan’s favorites.”

Throughout his two years at Iowa Lakes he built a lasting bond with his teammates.

After Iowa Lakes Anthony continued his basketball career at NCAA Division I McNeese State. While there he earned best defensive player two years in a row. After he graduated Anthony remained with the game he loves as a coach. Anthony coached at the NCAA Division I level for 22 years. He is currently the head coach at Broward College in Davie, Florida.

 Anthony would like to thank his mother Mrs. Helen Skinner as well as family and friends who all played a part in shaping him and helping him be the man he is today.
