RedTail Volleyball Sweeps Lakers 3-0 in Home Opener
WATERLOO–RedTail Volleyball hosted Iowa Lakes for their home opener on August 31, with the No. 11 RedTails sweeping the Lakers 3-0.
The RedTails and Lakers battled closely in a back-and-forth first set, but the RedTails were able to slip away at the end and take the set (25-22). In the second set, it was more of the same until the midway point when the RedTails were able to extend their lead and win (25-19). In the third set, the RedTails' hitting power was too much for the Lakers as the RedTails led comfortably and never looked back, winning (25-19).
Assistant coach Molly Shamansky had some positive words after the RedTails first win in conference play.
"It was a great way to start conference play with a solid sweep versus a good team," she said. "Our consistent defense and well-balanced offense executed tonight's game plans, we can't wait to keep building on this great start to the season."
The RedTails next matchup will come Saturday, September 3, at 3:00pm and 6:00pm at Spoon River College in Canton, Ill.
