NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team welcomed Iowa Lakes Community College to the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk Wednesday night. The Lakers came out on top in the duel by a final score of 75-70.

The Hawks (14-10, 6-7 ICCAC) trailed by 12 points at the completion of the first quarter and were down 15 at halftime. The deficit climbed to as many as 19 points in the fourth quarter, but Northeast made a ferocious comeback. A layup by Stevi Fallis (Pine Ridge, S.D.) with 2:22 remaining in the contest brought the Iowa Lakes lead to just 69-66. The Lakers went on to make their free throws and ultimately headed home with the victory.

Head women's basketball coach Matt Svehla on the comeback his group had tonight:
"We dug ourselves a hole, but we battled in the fourth to get back in it," Svehla said. "Our team showed some good fight to cut it to three points in the final minute, but Iowa Lakes was solid on their free throws and sealed the game."

Northeast will be on the road again this weekend as they will battle Marshalltown Community College at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Marshalltown, Iowa.
