RedTail Women’s Soccer Ties Against Iowa Lakes

RedTail Women’s Soccer Ties Against Iowa Lakes

The RedTails traveled to Estherville on Wednesday, September 20, to take on the Lakers.

The match was a tough battle against the number 19 ranked Iowa Lakes Lakers. The game ended up in a tie, with neither team scoring any points. Both teams had great defense and kept each other from even getting close to the net. Sophomore Avery Fleshner said, "The game against Iowa Lakes required a lot of teamwork," she said. "We had to communicate constantly and get organized quickly. Iowa Lakes is a skilled team and we were all determined and working for each other to come out with a result." She continued "This game was challenging but it proves that our team is hardworking and we don't give up easily. I'm proud of all of the girls and excited to see what the rest of the season brings us!"

Head coach Chris Rennie also had some positive comments after Wednesday's game.

"Today was a big step in this group becoming a TEAM," he said. "We have really good ability and a really good squad this year, but the performance really started to bring this group closer. They knew today would be about everyone working hard, organizing, and communicating." He continued "I hope the girls take a lot of confidence from that team performance against a nationally ranked top 20 side."

The RedTails next match will be on Saturday, September 23, against Northeast Community College.
