Lakers Split in Day Two of Double header against Southwestern CC

On Monday, the Lakers would again split with Southwestern Community College with the Lakers winning game three by a final score of 4-2 and dropping the nightcap 7-6. In the first game, the Lakers would get on the board in the first inning with a Jimmy Mapakou (Vauréal, Île-de, France) hit by pitch followed by a Mallard Holland (Tampa, FL) triple scoring Mapakou from first. Holland later scored on a passed ball putting the Lakers up 2-0. The Lakers offense was stagnent up until the sixth inning when Austen Daliet (New Orleans, LA) would reach base on a one out walk and would come around to score on a Beau Sackett (Malcolm, Nebraska) bunt single who would then advance to third on a throwing error by the Southwestern third baseman. Jacob Myer (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) would show flashes of dominance on the mound in game three where he would go on to pitch 5 2/3 while only allowing 2 runs, 1 earned and striking out 5 batters. Lucas Gardner (Estherville, Iowa) would come in and close the down for the Lakers as he would go 1 1/3 innings pitched, allowing no runs in the process earning his second save on the season.

Game four would start off in favor of the Lakers when Mapakou led off with a double down the third base line and would come around to score on a Spencer Keane (Palm Springs, CA) RBI single. Keane would then come around to score himself after stealing second base and a Holland RBI single to centerfield. Jacob Buffington (Bogart, GA) would battle in his three innings worth of work, holding the Spartan lineup to two runs before being relieved by Andrew Eskens (Lincoln, Nebraska). The Lakers would fall behind in the bottom of the sixth inning when Southwestern would take the lead 7-2 by scoring 5 runs on 4 hits. The back breaker was a bases loaded RBI single to right field which ended up scoring 3 runs on a Laker error. The Lakers young lineup showed heart in the top of the seventh inning when they would mount a rally by scoring 4 runs on 4 hits which was highlighted by a Keane 2-run double and an RBI single by Holland. However, the Lakers comeback would fall short as they left the tying run on 3rd base. The Spartans took game four of the series by a final score of 7-6.
