Lakers ranked 18th in NJCAA Pre-Season Poll

The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team debuted at No. 18 in the 2017-18 Preseason National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men's Basketball Rankings.  The Lakers are one of three Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) teams ranked joining #1 Southwestern and #14 Kirkwood.  http://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2017-18/div2/polls

The Lakers are coming off a season in which they finished 22 – 9 overall and 8 – 4 for in the highly competitive ICCAC which was good enough for third place.  The Lakers return 3 All Region players from last year's team including Kyle Beisch (1st Team All-Region, 14.7 points per game), Dennis Joiner (2nd Team All-Region, 12.7 points per game), and Streeter Mcilravy (Honorable Mention All-Region, 9.7 points per game).

Iowa Lakes will open up the regular season playing Ranger Community College of Texas on Wichita States Campus on November 4th at 8pm. Ranger is currently coached by former University of Kentucky Head Coach Billy Gillispie.

They will welcome Dordt JV to Laker Gymnasium on Monday, November 6th in their home opener. Tip for that game will at 7:30pm.

Iowa Lakes is coached by Troy Larson who is entering his 11th season as head coach of the Lakers and has an overall record of 208 – 108.  Larson has coached the Lakers to one national tournament appearance (2012 – 2013 season), three regional tournament final appearances (2013, 2014, 2016) and two ICCAC regular season championships (2013, 2016).
