Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball will host conference opponent Ellsworth Panthers at home on Saturday, January 27th at 3:00 PM. The Lakers are currently 12-7 overall and 2-2 in conference. The Lakers are coming off a road conference win against the 15th ranked Iowa Central Tritons on Wednesday night.
Kyle Beisch led the Lakers in scoring with 20 points while shooting 50% from the floor. Multiple Lakers contributed to the road conference win against the Tritons. Dennis Joiner finished the night with 16 points while going 7 for 10 from the floor. Solomon Clayton and Christian Kyles ended the night with double doubles. Kyles had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Clayton grabbed 13 rebounds and scored 13 points. Nick Wagner added 14 points in the Lakers efforts against Iowa Central.
Kyle Beisch is still leading the Lakers in scoring with 18.1 points per game while shooting 47% from the arc. In four conference games, he is scoring 24.3 points per game and shooting 54.2% from 3. Freshmen Nick Wagner, Solomon Clayton, and Jacob Rau are making solid contributions with 15.6, 11.3, and 10.7 points per game. Streeter McIlravy is averaging 10.3 points per game and shooting 45% from 3-point land.
Ellsworth (12-6, 1-2) is 4-1 on the road so far this season. Coach Larson stated, "(We) are looking for consistency moving forward. We have played fairly well on the road but have struggled at home to finish games." Returning sophomore guard, Darius Lasley, is averaging 15.6 points per game while freshmen Isaiah Johnson is averaging 13.5 points per game. They are both shooting over 40% from the arc. Sophomore forward, LaVeechie Williams, is averaging 12.2 points per game this season.
Last season the Lakers were 1-1 against the Panthers. Both teams won at home. Coach Larson said, "We need to play with more energy and passion this Saturday against Ellsworth. As always it will be a highly competitive ICCAC game. Our team is looking forward to the challenge."
Iowa Lakes Women's Basketball will also tip off against Ellsworth on Saturday, January 27th at 1:00 PM.
