The Lakers Look to Sweep the Bears

Estherville, Iowa – Wednesday, February 14, 2018

The Lakers will host the Bears from DMACC Wednesday night at 7:30 PM.  Coach Larson is "excited for another home game in the always competitive Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

Earlier in the season, the Bears lost to the Lakers at DMACC 96-90.  Four Lakers were in double digits for points against the Bears.  Sophomore guard, Kyle Beisch, led the Lakers in scoring for the night with 34 points while shooting 5 for 7 from the 3-point line.  Freshman center, Jacob Rau, finished the night with 17 points.  Sophomore guards Streeter McIlravy and Dennis Joiner scored 13 and 12 points in their efforts against DMACC.  Freshman point guard, Christian Kyles, facilitated the ball well that night.  He ended up with 9 assists.

The Lakers are 17-7 overall while the Bears are 16-8.  Because DMACC is good in transition and will pressure the ball defensively, Coach Larson said, "in order to be successful Iowa Lakes must have good transition defense and share the basketball. Des Moines Area Community College is a very talented and athletic team."

The Lakers are coming off a victory against #19th ranked opponent Southwestern.  4 Lakers scored in double figures.  Dennis Joiner led the way with 27points.  Streeter McIlravy notched a double double with 16 points and a career high 11 rebounds.  Christian Kyles scored 14 points while shooting 5-8 from the floor.  Solomon Clayton finished the night with 13 points and went 6 of 9 from the floor.

The Lakers are currently on a 6 game winning streak and has taken sole possession of 2nd place in the conference.  The latest national rankings have Iowa Lakes receiving votes.

Iowa Lakes Women's Basketball will also tip off against DMACC on Wednesday, February 14th at 5:30 PM.
