Lakers Host Trojans on Sophomore Night

Estherville, Iowa –

The Lakers will close out conference play Wednesday night against the Trojans from North Iowa Area Community College.  "We are excited to close out the conference at home, in front of our fans" stated Head Coach Troy Larson.  At home, the Lakers are 10-3 this season.

The Lakers are looking to sweep the Trojans this season.  The Lakers won their first meeting in Mason City, 79-72.  Six players had double digits for points against NIACC.  Nick Wagner led the way with 14 points.  Kyle Beisch finished the night with 11 points.  Christian Kyles, Dennis Joiner, Solomon Clayton, and Streeter McIlravy scored 10 points each. 

The Lakers are 20-8 overall and 8-3 in conference.  While the Trojans are 14-13 and 1-9 in conference play.  NIACC will utilize different defensive schemes throughout the game.  Coach Larson said, "In order to be successful against NIACC, we will need to recognize which scheme they (NIACC) are in and communicate with each other efficiently."

The Lakers are coming off a victory against Ellsworth on the road.  Three Lakers were in double digits for scoring against the Panthers.  Christian Kyles had a well-rounded game with 14 point, eight rebounds, and 5 assists while shooting six of eight from the field.  Dennis Joiner had similar numbers with 17 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.  Nick Wagner finished the night with 14 points.

The latest national rankings have Iowa Lakes receiving votes.

Women's Basketball will tip off at 5:30 PM on Wednesday evening and the Men's Basketball team will tip off at 7:30 PM.  The Men's Basketball team will honor their sophomores during the game.
