Men's Basketball Release's 2018-19 Schedule

September 28, 2018- The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team has released its schedule for the 2018-19 season. The Lakers who pride themselves on playing one of the toughest schedules in the country will feature seven games against NJCAA Division 1 opponents this season. The first Division 1 opponent will be Northeast Community College on November 10th at 6pm, in part of a two-day classic at Northeast in Norfolk, Nebraska. The Lakers will play Central Community College of Columbus, NE in the first game of the classic on November 9th at 4 pm. The Lakers next Division 1 opponent will be Highland Community College of Kansas on November 16th. Tips is set for 3pm and will be played as the first part of the two day Emerson Classic in Marshalltown, IA.

The month of December does not get any easier for the Lakers as they will travel to Burlington, IA to take on perennial powerhouse Southeastern Community College on December 1st. Tip for that game will be at 7pm. They will then host former Laker Brynjar Brynjarson's Marshalltown Community College Tigers on December 12th. Tip for that game will be at 7:30pm.

The Lakers will travel to Ottumwa, Iowa to play two more NJCAA Division 1's in the Hy-Vee Classic December 14th and 15th. There first game will be against Northern Oklahoma College on the 14th at 4:30pm. The second on the 15th at 4:30 pm vs. Western Nebraska.

They will wrap up their Division 1 schedule when they travel to Council Bluffs, IA  to take on Iowa Western Community College on January 8th. Tip will be at 7pm.

The Lakers will open conference play before the new year as they play their first of 14 Iowa Community College Conference games on December 5th when they travel to Little Priest Tribal College in Winnebago, Nebraska. That game has a start time of 7:30 pm. Their first home conference game will be on Saturday, December 8th when the Ellsworth Community College Panthers come to town. Tip for that game will be at 3 pm. Teams in the Iowa Community College Conference include DMACC, Ellsworth, Iowa Central, Kirkwood, Little Priest, NIACC, and Southwestern.

"Every year we try to play worthy, quality opponents to prepare our team for conference play. We feel like that is necessary due to the fact that our league is one of the toughest in the country, this year is no different as we play seven NJCAA Division 1 institutions," said Laker Head Coach Troy Larson. 

The first game of the 2018-19 Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball season will be November 1 vs. Dordt College's JV in Laker Gymnasium.
