Lakers fall at buzzer to 17th ranked NJCAA Division 1 Coffeyville

Arkansas City, KS- The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team fell to 0-2 on the season with a 82-81 loss against Coffeyville Community College.

The Lakers were led by Justin Brookens with 21 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Lakers was Keshawn Pegues with 16 points. Pegues also grabbed 11 rebounds. Kevin Cook also chipped in with 11 points.

Coffeyville was led by Meikel Murray with 20 points. Murray also added 11 rebounds.

The Lakers were up by 2 with 1.9 seconds on the 17th ranked NJCAA Division 1 Ravens when they heaved up a 65 foot shot that rattled in and out and back in as time expired.

"Our guys played a lot harder and tougher today then we did yesterday, we got better yet have a ton of things we can improve on and I am excited to see where we are in the next couple of weeks," said Iowa Lakes Head Coach Troy Larson.

The Lakers will open up at home on Monday, November 4th vs. Dordt University's JV. Tip will be at 7:30 in Laker Gymnasium.
