Lakers set to host Minnesota West

Estherville, Iowa – Friday, November 22, 2019

The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team is set to host the Blue Jays of Minnesota West on Saturday, November 23rd. Tip is set for 3 pm.

The Lakers who are currently 5-2 and have won 5 games in a row are coming off a strong showing this past weekend at the Emerson Classic in Marshalltown. The Lakers weekend included a 93-87 win over NJCAA Division 1 Independence who was unbeaten at the time and a 95-89 win over perennial NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament attendee  John Wood.  

The Lakers will feature 3 returners who played valuable minutes last year have also added 2 players who have been named Iowa Community College Men's Basketball Athlete of the week in Keshawn Pegues and Justin Brookens. Pegues is averaging 16.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while shooting 53% from the floor while Brookens is averaging 20.7 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.

Coach Larson had this to say about the game, "It should be a good game, Minnesota West is a good team, and is coming in at 3-0 and always give us their best effort, we will have to compete for the whole 40 minutes."
