Brookens named ICCAC player of the week for 3rd time

Estherville, IA- For the third time, this season Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball player Justin Brookens has been named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference player of the week. Brookens was also named the player of the week for November 11-17 and the week of January 20-26.

Brookens led the Lakers to 2 victories last week. The first game of the week saw Brookens and the Lakers down ICCAC opponent  Southwestern  111-102. In the contest, Brookens would go for 31 points on 11 of 18 shooting, while going 7 of 10 from 3. Brookens would also dish out 7 assists. In their second game of the week, the Lakers would take on NJCAA Division 1 opponent Marshalltown. They would down Marshalltown 89-63.  In that contest, Brookens would go for 16 points on 5 of 6 shooting including 4 for 4 from 3. For the season Brookens is averaging 19.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per contest. He is shooting 48% from the floor and 49.4% from 3. Brookens leads the ICCAC in 3-point field goal percentage.

Coach Larson had this to say about Brookens, "Its Justin's third time winning this award this season, it shows you just how hard he works on his craft, He has a bright future and I couldn't be prouder."

The NJCAA 7th ranked Iowa Lakes next contest will be February 19th at NJCAA 9th ranked DMACC. The tip will be at 7:30 pm in Boone, IA. Their next home contest will be February 22nd  when they take on Little Priest Tribal College for Sophomore Night.
