The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament with an 85-73 win over Southwestern.

 

The Lakers were led by Xzavier Jones with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Hall and Dillon Carlson each had 18 points. Keshawn Pegues added 15 points and 8 rebounds, and Caleb Johnson added 12 points. The Lakers outrebounded Southwestern 40-28. 

 

Southwestern was led by James Kelley with 24 points. 

 

Iowa Lakes Head Coach Troy Larson had this to say about the game, " Our guys responded to not playing at high level offensively, but a lot of our offensive struggles were because of Southwestern, it felt like a heavy weight fight where neither team could get into an offensive flow, so it just came down to individual players having to make offensive plays. We have won enough games this year that our guys have a good winning spirit, and we were able to make enough plays to win the game, we are excited and really looking forward to participating in the national tournament.

 

The NJCAA National Tournament will be played April 20-24.
