Lakers Sweep at Emerson Classic

Estherville, IA- The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team swept this weekend at the Emerson Classic to move to 4-2 on the season.

The first game of the weekend saw the Lakers take on Bryant and Stratton of Wisconsin. The Lakers would win the game 87-71.

Scoring in double figures for the Lakers was Ryan Hall with 18 points, Johnathan Oden with 14 points, Caleb Johnson, Xzavier Jones, and Jaylen Harris each had 12. Jones would lead the Lakers in rebounding with 13.

Bryant and Stratton was led by Mark Tidwell with 24 points. 

Laker head coach Troy Larson had this to say about the game.  "We struggled to get in a flow offensively to start the game, but our effort defensively was great. I thought we rebounded the ball well and when you do those things you give yourself a chance. 

In their 2nd game of the weekend the Lakers would take on NJCAA Division III Rock Valley. Rock Valley is currently ranked 7th in the country. The Lakers would win the game 90-68.

The Lakers were led Ryan Hall with 16 points. Xzavier Jones added 13, Jeremiah Burke had 12, and Joseph Owens had 10. Jones led the Lakers in rebounding with 8.

Rock Valley's stats were not available. 

Iowa Lakes head coach Troy Larson had this to say about the game. "Our guys did a great job defensively to start the game. We had a little bit of a lull in the first half, and we let Rock Valley back in the game. We did a great job of responding to that in the second half and were able to pull away early in the half. 

The Lakers will travel to Columbus, Nebraska this weekend to play in the Pinnacle Bank Thanksgiving Classic. They will play North Central Missouri on Saturday at 7 pm and Central Nebraska on Sunday at 5pm.
