Lakers take 2 at Pinnacle Classic

Estherville, IA- The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team swept this weekend at the Pinnacle Bank Classic to move to 6-2 on the season.

The first game of the weekend saw the Lakers take on North Central Missouri College. The Lakers who were down as much as 10 would win the game 72-70.

Scoring in double figures for the Lakers was Ryan Hall with 15 points, Xzavier Jones with 14, and Johnathan Oden with 11. Hall and Oden would lead the Lakers in rebounding with 6 each.

North Central Missouri was led by Guy Moran with 15 points. 

Laker head coach Troy Larson had this to say about the game.  "We struggled to get in a flow offensively to start the game, but our effort defensively was great. Our guys were resilient late in the comeback and I am proud of them. 

In their 2nd game of the weekend the Lakers would take on NJCAA Division II 16th ranked . Central Nebraska. The Lakers would win the game 79-68.

The Lakers who were down 65-49  with 6:44left in the game would finish the game on a 30-3 to run. Leading the Lakers was Caleb Johnson with 24 points. Xzavier Jones added 14, and Joseph Owens had 11. Johnson led the Lakers in rebounding with 9.

Central Nebraska was led by Tredyn Prososki with 15 points.

Iowa Lakes head coach Troy Larson had this to say about the game. " Our guys showed great toughness in the last 9 minutes of the game. I am proud of our guys and the way we battled this weekend after being down double digits. 

The Lakers will open up Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play Wednesday night at home against Southwestern. Tip for that game will be at 7:30 pm.
