Lakers Sweep at Johnson County

The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team swept this weekend at the Johnson County Classic to move to 4-1 on the season.

In their first action of the weekend the Lakers knocked off NJCAA 9th ranked Johnson County on their home floor 77-76. 

The Lakers who controlled the game were led by Isaiah Williams with 24 points. Amiri Crowder chipped in with 14 points,  Jeremiah Burke and Sam West both  added 12,  and Creighton Morisch added a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

Johnson County was led by Xavier Kahube with 21 points.

"That game had a college basketball feel to it. It was a great environment, and a really physical game. I am proud of our guys for the fight we had and how hard we guarded," said Laker Head Coach Troy Larson.

In the their second game of the weekend the Lakers would knock off Highland Community College of Kansas 93-81.

Leading the Lakers was Amiri Crowder with 23 points.  Anthony Holden had 16,  Jeremiah Burke added a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, Isaiah Williams had 13 points, and Ozzie Meiborg added 10 points.

Highland was led by Greg Moore with 26 points.

Laker Head Coach Troy Larson had this to say about the contest, "Our effort wasn't nearly as good as it was last night on the defensive end but offensively we shot over 50% from the floor for the first time this year. It was nice to start to see some guys get in a rhythm offensively." 

The Lakers next action will on Tuesday, November 15th when they take on Northwestern College's JV in Laker Gymnasium. Tip will be at 7:30 pm.
