Lakers Split in Marshalltown

The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team traveled to Marshalltown, IA this past weekend to play in the Emerson Classic. The Lakers would win one and lose one at the event.

In their first contest of the weekend the Lakers would take on Bryant and Stratton Community College. The Lakers would fall to the Bobcats 71-67

The Lakers were led by Isaiah Williams with 17 points. The only other Laker to reach double figures was Sam West with 13 points. West would also lead the Lakers with 9 rebounds.

"It wasn't our best outing tonight. They were more physical than us around the rim and we fouled them a lot." Said Laker Head Coach Troy Larson.

In their second game of the weekend. The Lakers would knock off Rock Valley 86-77.

The Lakers were led by Tre Holmes with 15 points. Also reaching double figures for Lakers was Jeremiah Burke with 14 points, Creighton Morisch with 13 points, and Sam West with 12 points. Burke would lead the Lakers in rebounding with 10. 

Rock Valleys state were not available at this time.

"Our bench guys gave us good energy today and it allowed us to pull away." said Laker Head Coach Troy Larson.

The Lakers' next contest will be Saturday night in Laker Gymnasium when they take on Southeast Nebraska in the Laker Classic. Tip for that game will be at 7:00 pm.
