Lakers Post 303 on Day 1 of Simpson Invite

Lakers fire a 303 on day one of Simpson Spring Invitational

The Lakers continued their spring season with a round of 303 at the Indianola Country Club to conclude round one of the two day Simpson Spring Invitational. The Lakers are eleven shots off the leaders, Nebraska Wesleyan, with a 292 and in a tie for fourth place.

The Lakers were led by Matt Bennett with a two over par 73. Jacob Baker wasn't far behind with a three over 74 and Connor Anderson with a five over 76. Collin Kemper rounded out the top four scores with an 80. Jordan Henry carded an 83 for the team scores. Jack Brashear scored an 80 as an individual.

"It is always hard to come in and play a course you have never seen and compete. The guys kept their heads down in some tough, windy conditions and grinded out some solid scores. I'm proud of the way they kept things together for the entire round." Said Weber. There are definitely some things that will need to be worked on, but overall they played well. We are in a good position coming into the second day and we will be looking to make a move."

Iowa Lakes will continue tomorrow morning with a 9:00 AM shotgun at The Legacy in Norwalk, Iowa.
