Lakers Wrap Up Round 1 for the NJCAA DII National Tournament

Round 1 Results from Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona

The two Lakers who qualified for the National DII NJCAA Golf Tournament, Jordan Henry and Matt Bennett, wrapped up an extremely hot, dry, and taxing round 1 today in Mesa, Arizona. Henry carded a ten over 81 while Bennett came in with an 85 which puts them in a T-95th and T-123rd, respectively, in a 137 player field.

Coach Weber had this to say about round 1; "It was an extremely difficult round from a mental standpoint. When the guys started their rounds, the temp had already reached 102 degrees fahrenheit and never got below 104. Along with the heat, the round took much longer than what the guys are used to. A typical round should take about four and half hours, but today almost pushed six hours. Combine that with the heat, it was a very difficult mental battle and the course got the best of them today. Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit smoother with forecasted tee time temps in the 70's."

The Lakers will look to gain some momentum and get back on track with Matt Bennett teeing it up at 7:50AM followed by Jordan Henry at 8:00AM for round two.
