Lakers Grind Out Round 3 in Arizona

Jordan Henry and Matt Bennett came across a familiar foe today on the golf course at Longbow; wind. Coming down to Arizona, wind was all but an after thought until it the weather changed early in the afternoon. With the morning conditions calm and cool, the afternoon turned hot and windy. Bennett was able to grind out a six over par 77, while Henry carded an 80.

After three rounds of play at the NJCAA DII National Championship Jordan Henry finds himself in a tie for 61st overall with a total score of 233 while teammate Matt Bennett is in a tie for 72nd with a three day total of 235 out of the 137 player field.

Coach Weber had this to say about round three: "Today was one of those days where something was just a little off for both of the guys and playing conditions were mentally draining. Henry couldn't miss a fairway but could not hit a green and Matt had a tough time getting putts to fall. When something doesn't click the way you want to and playing conditions keep beating on you, you have to stay patient and manufacture ways to keep up momentum and stay positive. The guys did enough today to bring in respectable scores even when things were not going the way they may have wanted. We will get some rest tonight and be ready to go tomorrow morning for the final round and wrap up two very good careers of Iowa Lakes golfers."

Matt Bennett and Jordan Henry will look to conclude their Iowa Lakes careers with a strong final round and tournament showing with tee times at 7:50 and 8:00 AM, respectively.
