Lakers Open 2017-18 Season At Brooks National

The Iowa Lakes men's and women's golf teams open their 2017-18 campaign on their home course at the Iowa Lakes Fall Invtational. The Laker men posted a team score of 318 and the women posted a team score of 378.

"It was great to get the teams out on the course in a tournament atmosphere. We have been hard at work for the first couple of weeks, but nothing can compare to tournament experience. With having the men's and women's teams fielded entirely by freshman any type of tournament play will be huge for them moving forward."

The Laker men were led by Aaron James with a three over par 75 followed by Sterling McIlravy with an 80, Carlton Rahn with an 81, and Connor Pirtle with an 82. Jaden Kallhoff, Morgan Edwards, and Josh Petrich rounded out non team counting scores with an 83, 88, and 94 respectively.

The Laker women were led by Annika DuMoulin with an 83 missing overall medalist by one stroke. Rounding out team scores were Allison Freeman with an 90, Logan Weber a 92, and Molly Diekmann with a 112. Non team counting score of 123 was posted by Jordan Origer.

"It wasn't exactly how we wanted to start out the season, but there were some good things to take away from our first tournament. Annika played very well and narrowly missed out on medaling in her first college event against some very good players in the region and it was great to see the other girls bring in some solid scores to start out their college careers. The guys were disappointed but I am sure they will use this as fuel to get better each day and I am curious how they will bounce back next week in Minnesota."

The Laker men will continue their fall season at the RCTC Invitational on Tuesday, September 12th at The Jewel in Lake City, Minnesota with a 10:30AM shotgun. The Laker women will play again on Friday, September 15th in Fort Dodge at the Iowa Central Invitational at the Fort Dodge Country Club with a 10:00AM shotgun.
