Iowa Lakes Finishes in 3rd at Region XI Fall Preview
The Iowa Lakes men's golf team were back in action on September 23rd and 24th for the ICCAC Region XI Fall Preview at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames, Iowa. The Lakers posted a two day total of 616 with round one and two splits of 310 and 306, respectively, finishing four shots out of second. The Lakers were led by Aaron James with a 73 on day one and Carlton Rahn with a 70 on day two.
"I think we did a lot of good things, but we have a lot of things to take away from this tournament to improve on" said Iowa Lakes golf coach, Jarvis Weber. "We have flashes of great play, but we have yet to put it all together as a team and are having some issues with consistency. When we do finally get it all together, we will have a very competitive team. We will look back on this weekend and go over every shot to find where we can improve and put in a good week of practice and get ready for Bent Tree next week."
The Lakers also took a second team to the preview and posted 663, led by Trace Jacobson with a 79-73 split for day one and two. "Trace had a solid weekend and it was good to see him post the lowest two day score of the weekend with a 152. He has been putting in a lot of work and it's always good to see a player trust his process and see results."
The men's team will have a week to prepare for a 54-hole two day event at Bent Tree Golf Club in Council Bluffs, Iowa on October 1st and 2nd.
