Iowa Lakes Golf Begins Season

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team began their spring season at a tournament in Texas. The trip allowed the players to get out on the course earlier than their more local tournaments.

Head Coach Jarvis Weber and his golfers have high expectations for the year.  The four returning sophomores Carlton, Morgan, Aaron, and Cameron have good experience and have really stepped up to lead the team. They have shown the incoming freshmen what it takes to be successful student-athletes at the collegiate level. The talent of the freshmen class has brought a new level of competition to the team. Last year's team lacked depth so Coach Weber is excited to see the teammates push each other to improve.

"Our sophomores came in this fall and knew exactly what needed to be done to qualify for nationals this spring. At our team meeting in the beginning of the season, they made that goal very, very clear. Our goal is to be the first men's team in Iowa Lakes history to qualify for the national tournament in May," commented head coach Jarvis Weber.

Making it to the national tournament will not be easy, as the Lakers are in a very talented conference. Throughout the season they will compete in Silvis (Illinois), Ames, Fort Dodge, and Okoboji before the Regional Tournament on May 3rd and 4th.
