Lakers Finish Fall Season at Blue Top Ridge

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team was back in action to cap off the fall season at the Region XI Fall Preview at Blue Top Ridge Golf Club in Riverside, Iowa on Monday. The Lakers were able to come away with a 4th place finish behind Des Moines Area Community College, Kirkwood Community College, and Northeast Community College, with a team score of 320. Leading the way for the Lakers was sophomore Trace Jacobson with a round of 77, which was good for another top-10 finish on his fall season.

"Today was all about getting the chance to see the regional tournament site, and to see where we currently fall in the region. In order for our team to qualify for the national tournament, we will need to finish in the top three next May," said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "This golf team has all of the necessary pieces to make a run at the regional tournament, and today just showed us exactly what we need to work on. Once we get mentally focused and play to our potential, I think we will be just fine. This is a good group of kids, we just need to show everybody else how good we can be."

Other scores for Iowa Lakes were James Preston with an 80 (t-15), Luke Sladek with an 81 (t-18), Joey Murphy with an 82 (t-22), Addison Bahr with an 83 (t-24), and Conal Downing with an 83 (t-24).

"This was overall a very good fall season for this team. We showed flashes of great play, but now it is time to reflect and go to work to tighten up our weaknesses to come out swinging next spring."
