Laker Golf Returns to the Links

After a 338 day hiatus, the Iowa Lakes men's and women's golf teams returned to competition at the Iowa Central Fall Kickoff at the Fort Dodge Country Club. The Laker men finished in 3rd place with a team score of 317, while the women finished second with a 371.

"Today was a very exciting, and somewhat nerve racking day" said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "It's been a long time since these players have seen competition, so this was simply a day to get back into the competitive mindset and I was very proud of the way they came out and started our journey this season."

Leading the way for the men was freshman Scott Flatebo with a four over par 75 which was good enough for a T-3 finish. Sophomore Kelly Winter led the women with an 87, also finishing in third place.

"This is a very young team this year with only a couple of sophomores so absorbing as much information and learning every day is going to be the highest priority, but I am confident this group will get better each and every day."

The Lakers return to action on Friday at the NIACC Fall Invite in Mason City, Iowa at the Mason City Country Club.
