Iowa Lakes Finishes 3rd at Green Valley

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team posted a team score of 306 at the Morningside Fall Invite at Green Valley Golf Course in Sioux City on Thursday, which was good enough for a third place finish. Briar Cliff University won the team title ten shots ahead of the Lakers with a 296. Leading the way for the Lakers was again freshman Scott Flatebo with another top five finish and a two over par 74, four shots behind the individual medalist, in the 65 player field. Iowa Lakes was the only NJCAA team in the eleven team field.

Close behind Flatebo was teammate Sam Miller who posted a 75, good enough for a solid top ten finish. Dawson Weber carded a 78, Blake Johnson a 79, and Jake Hemann with an 80. Ben Tibken competed as an individual and came in with a 78.

"This group is gaining a ton of confidence and is starting to settle into their roles and the competitive environment of college golf." said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "This team is capable of so much more and it is only a matter of time before they really figure out how to post some lower scores. We could have been lower today and had a runner up finish, so we will go back to practice tomorrow and work on tiding up some of those rough edges to be ready for next week down at Simpson (College)."

The Lakers will have a little less than a week off and look to conitinue their growth next Wednesday at the Simpson Fall Invite at the Indianola Country Club in Indianola, IA.
