Lakers Bounce Back in Ames

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team bounced back from their previous poor showing in Simpson with a strong team effort at the DMACC Fall Invite at the Ames Golf and Country Club in Ames, Iowa yesterday. The Lakers were able to produce a top five finish with a team score of 307 in a thirteen team field. Leading the way for the Lakers were freshman Scott Flatebo and Jake Hemann with scores of 76 in very tough, windy conditions.

"The boys were challenged after the Simpson Invite, and I think they took it very personal and wanted to prove that they were much better than 326." said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "They came ready today and posted a solid score. From a coaching perspective, that is a huge step in the right direction, but they still left strokes out there and we will continue to work to get those back."

Sophomore Dawson Weber was close behind with a 77 and freshman Sam Miller posted a 78 to round out the counting team scores. Ben Tibken posted an 84 as team non-counting score, while Blake Johnson posted 88 as an individual.

"This team has all the pieces and talent to post competitive scores in this region, it is just a matter of them limiting the big numbers and letting their games do the rest."

The Lakers have the rest of the week to practice up and get ready to defend their Quad Cup title on October 11th at Coldwater Golf Links in Ames, Iowa before finishing up the season at the True North Fall Shootout at Finkbine on the 15th.
