Iowa Lakes Begins Spring Season

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team bagan their spring golf season at Illinois Junior College Showcase in Bloomington, Illinois. The Lakers find themselves in 6th place out of ten teams after a day one score of 324, five shots out of third place. Leading the way for the Lakers was freshman Jake Hemann who posted a first round score of 74 (+2), good enough for tie for 4th place and three shots off the lead.

"The playing conditions today were your typical spring golf in the midwest" said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "It wasn't that warm, it was very windy, and we had to shake off a lot of rust from the winter months. The guys showed some very good stretches of golf, but it can take some time to get our touch back and limit those big numbers."

Other scores for the Lakers included Dawson Weber withan 82, Sam Miller an 83, Ben Tibken an 85, and Blake Johnson with an 86.

"Playing conditions are looking to worsen heading into day two with temps in the low forties and wind around 20mph, so we will see if we can finish the tournament. We'll be ready to move up the leaderboard."

The Lakers will tee off tomorrow morning at 11:00AM for round two of the Illinois Junior College Showcase at the Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington, Illinois.
