Lakers Finish 4th at Illinois Junior College Showcase

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team managed to move up two spots in round two to finish in 4th at the Illinois Junior College Showcase in Bloomington, Illinois. The Lakers carded a team score of 323, finishing the tournament with a two day total of 647. Parkland College won the event with a two day total of 602.

Leading the way for the Lakers was freshman Jake Hemann with a two day total of 159, finishing in 13th place individually.

"The guys showed some growth today, which is what this entire spring season is going to be about. Building some good habits and a successful mentality will be important for this group going forward" said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "We didn't come in and post the scores we wanted, but we continued to show great stretches that will inevitably result in good rounds later in the season."

Iowa Lakes had a very balanced team, with Sam Miller following closely behind with a two day total of 162, Dawson Weber a 163, Ben Tibken with 166, and Blake Johnson a 168.

"There really isn't a true top guy on this roster and anybody can be our low man any given day. As long as we continue to build a strong foundation and mentality moving forward, we will continue to see lower and lower scores this spring. This group is hungry and wants to get better, so we are all excited to get back to work and be ready for our next event at Iowa Central later next week" added Coach Weber.

The Lakers will tee it up next week at the Iowa Central Spring Invite at the Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge, Iowa on April 9th and 10th.
