Lakers Take Third at NIACC Invite

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team finished third at the NIACC Fall Invitational with a team score of 305, twelve shots behind team champion Iowa Central Community College. Leading the way for the Lakers was sophomore Sam Miller with a t-3rd finish with a round of one-over 73.

"Sam played well today, unfortunately we didn't have enough fire power to post a lower team score today on a getable golf course." said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "We are still making progress, and that is the main goal at this time for this squad. Was good to see Sam put together a good round today, he has been playing well at practice and in qualifying."

Freshman Kendall Nicolai and Billy Lyons would both post scores of 77, and sophomore Jake Hemann would post a round of 78 to round out the counting team scores.

"This team has a lot of potential, we just need to figure out how to put it all together at the same time." added Coach Weber. "We will get back to work because we know exactly where we need to be. We will need some guys to step up with all of our injuries right now. Somebody will take advantage of the opportunity and will be a big piece of this team moving forward."

The Lakers will have a week to prepare for the DMACC Fall Invite in Ames at the Ames Golf and Country Club on September 15th.
