Lakers Stumble at Fall Preview

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team traveled to Moravia, Iowa to take part in the Region XI Fall Preview at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake yesterday. The Lakers could not find any momentum and would finish in 5th place out of 6 teams with a team score of 319. Kirkwood Community College would take first with a team score of 294.

"Today was definitely not our best day and the scores mirror that" said Coach Weber. "Today was ultimately about seeing the course that we will need to compete at for our regional tournament in May. But it was also a way for us to see where we are at in the conference. Simply put, we have work to do."

The Lakers were led by freshman Billy Lyons with a round of 77 and sophomore Jake Hemann with a round of 78. Ciaran Jones would come in with a round of 80 and Dylan Shepherd with an 84 to finish out the team's counting scores.

"We will look back at today as a way to see where our floor is and where we can start to go up from. We have a lot of injuries and players not firing on all cylinders, so hopefully we can continue to get healthy" added Coach Weber. "I am curious to see what this team can do at full strength, and hopefully that happens sooner than later."

Iowa Lakes will have a quick turn around before the annual Quad Cup match play event on Friday, September 24th at Brooks Golf in Okoboji, IA.
