Iowa Lakes downs NJCAA D3 #10 Anoka-Ramsey 4-0

It only took the Lakers 12 minutes to open up the score line to their 4-0 victory. Sophomore Rian Marques netted his first goal of the season off an assist of Abel Gebrekiros.  It was great build up play and a great finish from Rian.

In the 23rd minute of the game Rian put away his second goal of the night off a corner kick from Jack Gibson.  The runs were executed very well and the space opened up for Rian to get through.

Right before half-time in the 41st minute Antonio Hernandez beat a few off the dribble and rocketed one from about 25 yards out adding the third goal for the Lakers. This goal was assisted by Craig Barker.

In the second half the Lakers came out strong adding their fourth goal of the night. In the 50th minute Nicolas Likulia back heeled the ball into the back of the net off of a cross from Charlie Hackshall

"I thought the boys were tremendous tonight. We passed the ball well, pressed well, and although we should have put a few more away I was happy with the goals we did get.  There were some excellent finishes.  With a tough week ahead, this should give us the confidence to build upon," said coach Ben MacRae.

The Lakers will travel this weekend to take on Indian Hills and Johnson County in Ottumwa, Iowa on 9/1/2017 and 9/2/2017.
