Lakers win 1-0 at Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska

From the minute the whistle blew the Iowa Lakes men's soccer team dominated the game for the whole 90 minutes.  The Lakers had a numerous amount of opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net early in the game, but they didn't fall in.

In the 72nd minute Able Gebrekiros beat a line of two defenders and played Charlie Hackshall on top of the six-yard box who scored the game winner to give the Lakers the win.

"Sometimes you have to dig deep in games to get the result and today was one of those days. Good sides win games when they are not playing their best. I thought the final balls were not good enough today and if we are going to do well in our conference this year they have to be better. Saying all that, it is great to go into conference play on the back of two wins.  We now have two days to prepare to take on Northeast Community College," said Coach Ben MacRae.

The Lakers will be at home on September 9th, 2017 to take on Northeast Community College in the opening game of conference play.
