Lakers come away with the Three Points Against the #11 Tigers

With the #11 Marshalltown Tigers coming to Spencer, Iowa we knew that they were up for a battle and so were the Lakers. It was a very fantastic game of Futbol. You have to give credit to the Tigers.

It all started only one minute and thirteen seconds into the match when the Tigers got in behind the back four and put the ball in the back of the net early to go up 1-0. The Lakers responded in the 13th minute of the game with a goal from Abel Gebrekiros off of a free kick hit off of the bar from Craig Barker, at that point the game was even at 1's. A minute later Gebrekiros assisted Barker who put the ball away to give the Lakers the lead. At half time the Lakers were up 2-1.

Fifty-five minutes into the game in the second half Jack Gibson found Antonio Hernandez's head off of a corner kick, the Lakers were now up comfortably 3-1. Charlie Hackshall sealed the deal for the Lakers in the 82nd minute of the game with a great finish outside of the 18-yard box off of a pass from Barker. The Tigers second goal was scored late in the game at the 85th minute. The Tigers battled and fought hard until the end of the game.

"It was a wonderful performance today. After going down in the first minute of the game, the response was fantastic. As a team our effort, desire, and willingness to work for each other was tremendous. We have now put ourselves back in the running for the conference and could not be happier," said Coach Ben MacRae.

The Lakers will now travel on Friday, September 29th and 30th to Davenport, Iowa to take on Illinois Central Community College for a non-conference match-up on Friday. Then on the following day Scott Community College will host the Lakers for a conference meeting.
