Lakers win on the road at Northeast

The Lakers traveled to Norfolk, NE to take on Northeast Community College in a non-conference meeting and came out with a 2-0 victory to extend their win streak to 5 in a row.

Fifteen seconds into the game the Lakers had the chance to go up early on a one on one against the Northeast goalkeeper but were unable to finish. You have to give props to the Northeast goalkeeper for coming up big on a handful of saves.

The Lakers dominated the whole 90 minutes but had trouble finding the back of the net. It wasn't until the 57th minute of the game when Charlie Hackshall assisted Rian Marques inside the 18-yard box, Marques put the ball away to go up 1-0.

Abel Gebrekiros scored an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute of the game where he stripped the Northeast defender and went one on one against the Northeast goalkeeper to secure the 2-0 win for the Lakers.

"We were able to rest a few players today and still come out with the result, so that was pleasing. A few of the lads that came in did very well and although we should have won by a bigger margin, we will take that and move on. I don't like to be repetitive, but we do need to be more clinical in the penalty box if we are to play with the bigger teams in our league. It's going to be an intriguing encounter against Indian Hills on Saturday," said Coach Ben MacRae.

The Lakers will next host Indian Hills in a conference meeting on Saturday, October 7th
