Tritons down Lakers 2-1 in Fort Dodge

The Lakers traveled to Fort Dodge, Iowa to take on the Iowa Central Tritons in a conference match-up that meant a lot for the Lakers.

The Lakers again could not find the back of the net as we have struggled to all season, they had chances to go up early but could not convert. Iowa Central's #10 put the tritons on top early 1-0 in the first half with a great strike outside the 18-yard box.

In the second half the Lakers came out hungry and their attack looked promising as they were looking for an early goal, with about 15 minutes left in the game the Tritons #10 found the back of the net again to put the Tritons up 2-0. With about three minutes remaining Rian Marques put the Lakers on the board but there was not enough time remaining as the game ended 2-1 in the Tritons favor.

"Today just wasn't out day. They say that over the course of a season that luck evens out, I just really hope that's the case this year as we are just not getting any. We have two games that we have to win now to guarantee being in the playoffs. We are more than capable of going on another big winning streak and how we respond from this loss will define our season. My belief has not wavered and am looking forward to getting on the training field tomorrow," said Coach Ben MacRae.

The Lakers will next travel to Hawkeye Community College in a conference meeting on Saturday, October 14th.
