Rian Marquez, a sophomore from Brazil will continue his playing career at Division II Tusculum University studying Business Administration.

Forward Marquez joined the Laker squad in 2016. During his time, Marquez played in 35 games and started 28. In the 28 games started he scored 21 total goals and contributed 4 assists scoring 3 game winners in each season.

Marquez recorded player of the week honors, second team all-conference and second team NSCAA all region honors his freshman year. He was the second player in Lakers history to score 20 or more career goals. 

"I'm grateful for my time here at Iowa Lakes" said Marquez.  "I felt very welcomed by the Spencer community, especially by the Almanza family. I want to thank Coach Ben and the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play for Iowa Lakes. It has been an amazing journey. I am very excited to join the soccer squad at Tusculum. I feel like it has a great program where I will have the right tools to succeed and go to the next level."
