LAKERS DEFEAT SOUTHEASTERN 6-2 IN HOME OPENER

Spencer, Iowa-Iowa Lakes Community College Men's Soccer team, kicked off its 2019 Season home opener with a 6-2 win over Southeastern Community College. The Lakers who are currently ranked #11 in the country, dominated their home opener from the first minute.

Sophomore forward, Jovoney Brown started off the Lakers scoring less then one minute into the game, as he got his head onto the end of a Connor Goldsworthy cross. Brown the Jamaican native would end up adding another goal and two assists to his stat sheet. Jovoney is currently the NJCAA National Leader in Assists with 7.

The next two goals from the Lakers where scored within three minutes of each other by Luto Tom and Julien Paraud, Both where assisted by Jovoney Brown. Ten minutes later Brown would net his second goal. The Lakers would go into halftime up 4-2.

The second half would take a little longer for the Lakers to get on the score sheet, but where able to not concede another goal. Luan Cesar and Odal Brown would add their names to the score sheet, assists from Connor Goldsworthy and Lonyjera Okal.

The Lakers move to 2-1 record on the year and hit the road next weekend for two games in Council Bluffs. Saturday, September 7th the Lakers will play Northeastern Junior College and Sunday, September 8th they will take on Laramie County.
