The Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer season is underway. The Lakers had an excellent season last year finishing 15-3. Last year the Lakers came up one game short of nationals falling to Marshalltown in overtime. This year they are hungry for the opportunity to reach the national tournament.

"First stepping stone is to win the conference and then on to nationals. I think we have the pieces to accomplish it this year," commented Head Coach Ben MacRae.

The Lakers are bringing back a lot of experience from last year's team. "We return 7 starters from last year's team that we will rely on very heavily," commented MacRae.

One of the major contributors will Luto Tom. He is a box to box midfielder with great energy that covers a lot of ground.  Prolific striker, Jovoney Brown returns with an increased role on this year's team. Coach MacRae will be looking for increased consistency from the sophomore who started a few games last year and added a spark to the team.

The defense looks to be strong this year. Three of the four starting players return this year including captain.

Nathan Ndomba. Ndomba, Cameron Weston, and Connor Goldsworthy play well together with great chemistry.

Newcomers looking to make an impact include center back Raphael Meyerhoff, Leon Wood at midfielder, and Sebastian Zapata at center half.

The Lakers are currently 4-1 and 1-0 in conference play.  The Lakers will be hosting Heartland Community College on Saturday, September 14th at 3:00pm and Parkland College on Sunday, September 15th at 3:00pm.
