#14 LAKERS BEAT #9 PARKLAND 6-1

 

(SPENCER, IOWA) After a convincing 5-1 win last night against undefeated Heartland CC. The Lakers picked up right where they left off, with at 6-1 victory over #9 Parkland CC.

            Freshmen Raz Levy started off the scoring for the Lakers just three minutes into the game, compliments of Sophomore Luan Cesar. The Lakers lead wouldn't last long as Parkland equalized on a free kick just two minutes later. Within the first five minutes the score was 1-1. Jovoney Brown would gain the lead back for the Lakers just seven minutes later from a pass from Raz Levy.

Five minutes later Brown would get on the score sheet again, when he received a through ball to goal from Leon Wood. This is Jovoney Brown's 5th goal in two games. The Lakers would head into halftime up 3-1.

            Fifteen minutes into the second half Connor Goldsworthy scored from a Jovoney Brown pass. 4-1 Lakers. Four minutes later Parklands goalkeeper would receive a red card. Putting the Cobras down to ten men. The Lakers would take immediate advantage of Parklands sending off, when Malik Smith scored a volley from outside the box, 5-1 Lakers. Freshmen Deangello Brown would seal the game when he shot a screamer from thirty yards out over the keeper's head. Final Score Lakers 6 Parkland 1.

 

" I thought the performance was ok, I was disappointed the way we played at times and we have to be better when we play the top teams in the nation." Head Coach Ben MacRae.

 

The Lakers move to 6-1 on the year and will begin conference play on Wednesday, September 18th as they host Northeast CC. Kickoff 3pm
