LAKERS ROUT NORTHEAST CC 11-1 IN FIRST CONFERENCE GAME

(SPENCER, IOWA)- The #11 ranked Iowa Lakes Lakers started off their conference campaign with a convincing 11-1 victory over Northeast CC. This would be the Lakers seventh straight win.

For the first time this year the Lakers would find themselves trailing 1-0 just eight minutes into the game. However the Lakers would not trail for long. Julien Paraud would get his head onto a Cameron Weston cross just a minute later. The Lakers would take over from there. Jovoney Brown would continue his incredible scoring run, by netting two more goals in just ten minutes of each other, assists from Malik Smith and Cameron Weston. Three minutes later the Lakers captain Nathan Ndomba would get on the score sheet off of a corner kick from Connor Goldsworthy.

Jovoney Brown would complete his first half hat trick just three minutes later, compliments of a Cameron Weston pass.  After three assists in the game Cameron Weston added a goal to his name, when he struck a thunderous free kick inside the Northeast goal. Lakers would go into halftime with a 6-1 lead.

The Second half again was all Lakers; just five minutes in Jean-Mikael Tshibanda would score from a Raz Levy pass. One minute later Levy would get on the score sheet as well off a pass from fellow freshmen Akara Glass. Eight minutes later Odal Brown would score from a nice shot inside the Northeast box after receiving a pass from fellow Jamaican Deangello Brown. Northeast would take down Laker freshmen Santiago Huertas inside their own box, awarding the Lakers a penalty, which Huertas stepped up and slotted the ball home beautifully. Raz Levy would finish up the scoring by finishing a lay off pass inside the box from Odal Brown. Final Score Lakers 11 Northeast 1.

Thoughts from Head Coach Ben MacRae- "Delighted to win 7 on the trot. I thought we scored some excellent goals and the lads should be full of confidence going into this weekend's huge matchup against Marshalltown. We can't wait."

The Lakers will host #13 Marshalltown CC in conference play this Saturday, September 21st. Kickoff 3pm.
