Lakers Put Nine Past NIACC

Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer traveled to North Iowa Area Community College on Tuesday, beating The Trojans 9-0. Sophomore Leonardo Seixas opened the scoring in the 16th minute from an assist by Sofian Maghouz. Just three minutes later, Seixas found the back of the net again, this time assisted by Henry Louko. Striker Jason Dyer came off the bench to get on the score sheet in the 27th minute from an assist by Taurayi Tugwete. In the 30th minute, the fullbacks linked up when Lewis Nohar set up Logan Roach for a goal. Dyer got his second goal of the game in 41st minute set up from a pass by Matias Daniel-Doren.

The Lakers continued to put the pedal to the metal in the second half. Jorge Pena's cross found Matias Daniel-Doren for a beautiful header in the 71st minute. Ten minutes later, forward Henry Tolbert was brought down in the box, earning the penalty for his team. Lewis Nohar stepped up to the spot and buried his chance, getting him on the score sheet in the 81st minute. Lewis Nohar then got his second assist of the game, finding Baht Khin on another perfectly delivered cross, for Khin's first goal of the season in the 83rd minute. Jason Dyer then completed his hattrick with a goal in the 85th minute, giving Pena his second assist of the game.

Pena, a freshman defender, has picked up quite the knack for setting up players, leading the team with five assists. After his two goals against NIACC, Leonardo Seixas now leads the team with five goals.

The Lakers now hold a record of 6-1 heading into the weekend, where they will host Scott Community College at home on Saturday, with a 3pm MST kickoff.
