Lakers Men's Soccer Defeat Northeast CC 9-0

Lakers Men's Soccer played their final Division II matchup against Northeast Community College on Wednesday, defeating the Hawks 9-0. The scoring got on the way in the 8th minute when Logan Roach put the finishing touch on a beautiful display of combination play, with Bryan Coss getting the assist. Just four minutes later, Henry Louko got on the score sheet after taking his chance precisely from a ball played to him by Logan Roach. Leonardo Seixas had a scintillating first-half, being in the heart of every action, and was rewarded by a goal in the 20th minute set up by Bryan Coss. Three minutes later, the Lakers were awarded a penalty, which Lewis Nohar smashed into the back of the net. Henry Tolbert and Jason Dyer came off the bench to give the Lakers a different dynamic in the attack, linking up in the 29th minute, Tolbert set up Dyer to make it 5-0 going into halftime.

The Lakers continued to enforce themselves coming out of the gate in the second half. Just three minutes in, the Lakers got a second penalty awarded to them, which Matias Daniel-Doren converted beautifully. Bryan Coss was finally paid off for all his hard work in the 68th minute, cutting inside from the left side of the box and scoring a wonderful goal assisted by Henry Louko. Freshman defender Jorge Pena made his entrance into the game late in the second half and left his mark in the 84th minute. After picking up the ball from Henry Tolbert, Pena used his footwork skills to get around his defender and bent the ball into the side of the net. Just one minute later, Jason Dyer converted another chance, this time set up by Baht Khin, to make it 9-0.

On Saturday, the Lakers travel to Ottumwa to kick-off Division I conference play against Indian Hills at 3pm. Iowa Lakes now holds a record of 8-1 heading into this big match.
