Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer opened their National Championship account on Tuesday, with a 1-0 win over Western Texas. The Lakers looked solid throughout the match, with the lone goal coming in the second half from a freekick by right-back Lewis Nohar. Iowa Lakes continued their hunt for their second goal but a solid defensive display by Western Texas kept them at bay. With elimination on the line for Western Texas, they threw everything at The Lakers in the final minutes of the match, but Iowa Lakes saw the victory through at the end. 

The Lakers lace-up again tomorrow for their second match of the tournament against host Tyler Junior College at 5:30pm CST. The winner of this match will advance to the semi-final that will be played on Friday, November 19th.
