Lakers Put Five Past Northeast

Iowa Lakes men's soccer team headed to Norfolk, NE, to face Northeast CC in their final match before Division I conference play commences. In a highly anticipated matchup against a Division II side that had toppled three out of the five Division I teams in the ICCAC, Iowa Lakes imprinted their standard of quality by defeating The Hawks 5-0.
The scoring started in the 15th minute when Wilmont Manneh came on as a substitute and had an immediate impact, setting up Christian Keshishian for a shot that he drilled low and hard into the bottom corner of the goal. Viktor Villfoer made his debut for The Lakers, coming on as a substitute and expanding the play, finding Lewis Nohar on the right wing in the 39th minute, who provided perfect service for Aphelele Nzwanga to score. Viktor Villfoer then got on the scoresheet himself, using his fantastic vision to catch the Northeast goalkeeper off his line and score from thirty-five yards out. Viktor Villfoer was again involved in the action in the 58th minute, finding Jason Dyer, who set up Aphelele Nzwanga for his second goal on the day. Dyer wasn't finished yet, though. Finding himself on the end of a long punt from goalkeeper Taariq Ganga in the final minute of the game, the Jamaican took on his man and set up Jeremie Saint-Marc for his first goal of the season.
The Lakers move to 7-1 on the season, averaging 4.5 goals per game while only conceding 6 goals in the 8 matches they've played. Iowa Lakes men's soccer opens their Division I campaign this Saturday, September 17th, at home against Marshalltown at 1pm CST.
