Laker Men Return Home 2-0 From Colorado With Win over Western Nebraska

The Lakers' Men's Soccer Team finished their road trip with a 2-1 win over Western Nebraska CC on Saturday in Sterling, CO.

The Lakers started hot when sophomore Philmour Virgo picked up the ball off a pass from freshman Gabriel Miranda in the 12th minute. He took on his defender on the right flank with some trickery and drove the ball low and hard past the Western Nebraska keeper. The Lakers then conceded a goal off of a poorly defended corner which equalized the scoreline going into halftime.

The Lakers continued to dominate possession in the second half with many chances, including freshman Keiji Sugiera hitting the crossbar. Still, they could not find the back of the net until freshman Lander Gonzalez rifled a shot into the Cougar's net after picking up the loose ball from a Western Nebraska clearance, giving the Lakers the winning goal in the 80th minute.

Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer will face Casper College next. The game will be played at home in Spencer on Saturday 26th, at 3:30PM CST.
